Personal Message
from
Pastor Karen
"...This one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind..." Philippians 3:13
As we enter into this new year many of us must have the same attitude as Paul the Apostle Paul seems to have understood, that if his new life in Christ was to be successful he had to let go of his past. For many of us this past year was filled with both success and failures. We may have gotten a promotion on our jobs or we may have lost a love one. Maybe we went through the year financially burdened. Whatever the case we can't hold onto the past because the past can greatly hinder our future. Through the prophet Isaiah, God told Israel to forget the former things and to not dwell on the past". Why is it that God at times would want us to forget the past? Continuing in Isaiah 43:18-19 it goes on to say that God wants to do a new thing! Are you comfortable with the past? Or do you want Gods new things. If you chose the latter, then lets do that one thing: Forgetting what is behind....

"Tis the season to be jolly"
And jolly we were here at the Dallas International Street Church. Beginning at Thanksgiving there was much cheer and excitement as we geared up to serve the needs of our community. Highlighted by our annual toy giveaway in which 1200 children received gifts for Christmas the holiday season provided many opportunities for D.I.S.C. to make a difference. On Christmas Eve, we partnered with Randy Whites BBQ to provide a Christmas meal to approximately 70 homeless individuals and later that night we all shared in communion. Let's not forget our rocking New Years Eve Party. We literally rocked the heavens with our praise, worship and testimonies.

"All these...volunteered to serve in the ranks......."
I Chronicles 12:38
This past year the Dallas International Street Church experienced extrodinary growth. We served more individuals through our various programs such as our discipleship housing, free meal program, no cost thrift store, and preached to larger crowds. But more importantly we have seen more lives changed. But none of this could have been done without the help of the most valuable resource any ministry could have. You, the volunteer. Because of you we have been able to step out in faith and do what we believe God has called us to do. Whether it was teaching a class, cleaning bathrooms, office work, donations, providing meals, etc. you helped us make a difference. And for that we are thankful and want to encourage you to continue to partner with us as we to seek to do even greater things in 2012.

"...Gathered together and reported all that God had done through them and how He had opened the Door of Faith....."Acts 14:27
One of the traits of a good leader exemplified by the Apostle Paul was that he loved to share with the community and his supporters what God accomplished through him. Taking his example the Dallas International Street Church would like to report to you a few of the things God has accomplished through our ministry this past year.
-
Completion of New Life Skills Center
-
Expanded and improved our food pantry
-
Mentored 150 men and women with life controlling problems
-
Developed new community partners
-
Addition of Richard Shipley as Life Skills Director for our Kaufman County Facility.
We are greatful for the success we had this past year. However, as stated in "A message from Karen" we are excited about the "New thing" God is going to do this next year. He has filled our hearts with visions and dreams that we know with His guidance will come to pass. Please pray that we will continue in His presence to dwell in 2012.
